This landscape photograph leads us deep into the department of Corrèze and to one of France’s most distinctive destinations: the village of Collonges-la-Rouge. I captured this image while wandering away from the village’s bustling tourist squares in search of its quieter side alleys. This narrow, downward-sloping lane was the perfect place to pause with the camera. It was fascinating to see how the heavy, centuries-old red stone walls and structures were softened by the wildly growing grapevines embracing them.
