Gallenstein Fortress #

In the summer of 2025, my wife and I were returning to Finland from a road trip in France and decided to drive through Austria. Our original plan for a short city break in Vienna was changed on the fly to a more nature-oriented option, better suited for our two Hovawart dogs.

Bengtskär, Finland #

A day trip to Bengtskär, the southernmost point of Finland, is always an experience. I wanted to capture what makes the island so unique. The eye travels over the smooth granite cliffs, polished by the last Ice Age and since rinsed bare by the sea. These ancient stones lead towards the lighthouse, which has steadfastly guarded the sea for over a hundred years. This landscape encapsulates the island’s very essence: remoteness and resilience.

Anzême, France #

I’ve always liked photographing moving water, especially rapids and waterfalls. The downside of living in Finland is that there aren’t that many around. This waterfall, however, is pure gold. It is set in a ravine of the Siauve river, which is one of the tributaries of the Creuse river. It is a natural waterfall carved into the granite and it stands approximately 8 meters tall.

Colondannes, France #

This natural gem, Les Combes de la Cazine, is located in the heart of La Creuse, France. It is one of my favorite haunts, since it offers varying natural wonders to discover and photograph. The closest village to this place is called Colondannes, which is located on the road between Dun-le-Palestel and La Souterraine.

Gimel-les-Cascades, France #

I remember it was a scorching hot summer day and we were visiting the picturesque village in the Correze mountains called Gimel-les-Cascades. The village attraction of course are the waterfalls, which descend into the ravine below the village. To get to see the actual falls, you will have to buy a ticket and descend into ravine via a set of wooden stairs.

Hyvinkää, Finland #

I was visiting the city of Hyvinkää, Finland around Xmas of 2021. Since it is home to the Finnish Railway Museum, I wanted to see what kind of photo opportunities the old railroad yard from 1870 would offer me. In 2021, I had acquired my trusty Nikkor 16-35mm, which is an excellent lens for architectural photography. I was still getting used to the lens and how to work with it without creating crazy distortions that cannot be fixed in post process.

Vancouver, Canada #

In October 2022, I had the pleasure of visiting Vancouver for the first time. Since my trip was a business trip, I had some free time for photowalks mostly at night. I used this opportunity to photograph the quite amazing architecture of the city center. This image is actually one of the first ones I captured, since my hotel was located next to the harbor area. The building with the neon sign in the center, Cardero’s, was and excellent seafood restaurant.
